STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO HOST PUBLIC
INFORMATION MEETING FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT ON STATE ROUTE 410 OVER
BLACK RIVER IN TOWNS OF DENMARK AND CROGHAN, LEWIS COUNTY
Meeting Set for April 26 at the Castorland
Fire Department
The New York
State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host a public information
meeting about an upcoming project to replace the bridge carrying State Route
410 over the Black River in the Towns of Denmark and Croghan, Lewis County
on Wednesday, April 26. The meeting will be in the Castorland
Fire Department Community Room, 5187 State Route 410, Castorland,
NY 13620 and will begin at 6 p.m. with an open house. A formal presentation
will be given at 6:30 p.m. and representatives will answer questions after
the presentation, with the meeting expected to close at 8 p.m.
The project
proposes to replace the existing bridge over the Black River with a new
structure adjacent to the existing bridge. This will eliminate the need for
a detour and will expedite construction activities. In addition, the
shoulders on the structure will be widened and the highway approaches will
be reconstructed, with wider shoulders, both to facilitate safer passage
for pedestrians, cyclists, and buggy traffic.
During the
meeting, NYSDOT representatives will provide information and answer
questions about the project. Interested persons
will be given the opportunity to express their views or concerns about the
project. Persons may file written statements and
other exhibits related to the project. Written statements need to be
received in the Regional Director’s Office, 317 Washington Street,
Watertown, NY 13601 by May 12 and will be made part of the record.
Please advise
this office if a sign language interpreter, assistive listening system, or
any other accommodations will be required to
facilitate your participation. Interested individuals who are not able to
attend on this date may obtain project information by contacting: Elizabeth
Baxter, P.E., Regional Design, at (315) 785-7946 or by email at elizabeth.baxter@dot.ny.gov.
