Dennis Bishop is announcing his candidacy, in the form of a “write-in” campaign, for Village of Lowville Trustee. A resident of Lowville for most of his life, he and his wife, Pam, reside on Jefferson St. in Lowville. Dennis has previously served as Village Trustee for two consecutive terms (2007 thru 2015). And, in light of the fact that incumbent Mayor Joseph Beagle has been challenged in his re-election bid by Kae Young, wife of local lawyer Michael Young, Dennis feels it is important that he support Joe, and our village Board in their ongoing struggle against Lewis County Legislative overreach by launching a “write in” candidacy for the open Village Trustee seat.

Dennis is quoted as saying “ Our village has been run carefully and conservatively by our Mayor and incumbent Board of Trustees for the last 4 years and I would be proud to join them in working toward a common goal of continued stability, reasonable water and sewer rates, responsible governance, and continued improvements in our infrastructure in order to provide a setting where our businesses and residents can continue to flourish. Unfortunately, there are ongoing efforts by the Lewis County Legislature to take over our Board of Trustees plus our Village water system, to bring snowmobiles and 4 wheelers straight thru our village on their “Rails to Trails” corridor and their latest arbitrary decision (which will negatively affect a large portion our Village) to construct yet another one of their overpriced and under-planned projects, a 13 MILLION dollar structure for 20 “homeless people” on Outer Stowe St.! At this point in time we need individuals on our Village Board who will continue to stand up for Village autonomy from the County. I have proven that I can do this as a Board member in the past, and pledge to continue standing up for our Village residents if elected Village Trustee by “write in” on March 21st.”
