PRESS RELEASE
On February 26,
2023, at 8:49 p.m., State Police responded to 3025 Potter Road in the town
of Osceola, Lewis County for a reported fatal snowmobile crash.
A 2020 Polaris XC
137 snowmobile, operated by Dean J. Beck, age 49 from
Spencerport, NY was traveling south on Potter Road snowmobile trail C5C
when he failed to negotiate a sharp curve. The snowmobile subsequently
traveled off the trail, down a steep embankment, and struck a tree.
Beck was ejected
from the snowmobile and pronounced deceased at the scene.
State Police were
assisted at the scene by the Redfield Fire Department, Lewis County
Sheriff’s Office, and the Lewis County Search and Rescue.
