Veteran Lawmakers Seek Re-Election to the Lewis County
Legislature
Lewis County
Chairman, Larry Dolhof, Lyons Falls, and
Legislator Dick Chartrand, Lowville, announce their plans to seek
re-election to the Lewis County Board of Legislators this November.
Chainnan Dolhof was first elected to the Board of Legislators in
2000, and then again in 2013. In 2018, he earned the respect of his fellow
lawmakers and was elected to the Chairmanship. Legislator Dolhof continues his priority of fiscal responsibility
and improving infrastructure throughout the county. Recent projects include
renovating the Human Services Building, a new highway garage, and a new
home for DMV and Elections, all while maintaining a tax rate which is lower
today than was paid a decade ago.
Under Chairman Dolhof’s leadership, the County has leveraged state and
federal funding to invest over $3 .5 million in broadband infrastructure
across Lewis County, reducing the number of unserved households by over
70%.
An advocate in
Albany, Chairman Dolhof has forged partnerships
to address issues of tourism, renewable energy opportunities, highway
infrastructure projects, and health and human services programs.
Working alongside
of the Chairman is Legislator Dick Chartrand. Chartrand was elected to the
Lewis County Board of Legislators in 2014. His engineering background makes
him a valuable asset to his fellow lawmakers as
the County undertakes several multimillion-dollar projects. Mr. Chartrand
played key a role in the launch of the County's Solid Waste Facility
improvement projects and has continually supported various community
outreach programs. Legislator Chartrand plans to stay involved with the
completion of several projects at Lewis County Health System, where he sits
as the Legislature's representative on the Board of Managers.
Chairman Dolhof and his wife Donna reside in Lyons Falls, where
they own and operate Dolhof Hardware.
Legislator
Chartrand and his wife Cheryl reside in Lowville. Chartrand is a retired
Department of Defense employee from Fort Drum.
