Multiple Fire Agencies Respond to Fully Involved
Structure Fire in Town of New Bremen

Fire Dispatch
(11:50 a.m.): Croghan Fire has been dispatched to a reported
structure fire, with flames visible, on State Route 812 between Brewery Rd.
and Black Creek Rd. Everyone is reported to be safely out of the residence.
Croghan Chief has arrived on scene and reports a fully involved fire with
heavy flames. A full response mutual aid assistance has been requested from
Beaver Falls, Castorland and New Bremen fire
units. State Route 812 has temporarily been closed in this area as crews
battle the fire.
UPDATE (01:20
p.m.): Croghan Chief on scene reports that the fire is under control at
this point and crews will remain on scene for the overhaul process. State
Route 812 remains closed at this time.
UPDATE (01:50
p.m.): Castorland Fire units have cleared the
scene, returning to service.
UPDATE (02:16
p.m.): State Route 812 has just been partially reopened, with one-lane
traffic currently.
UPDATE (03:02
p.m.): State Route 812 is now closed to all traffic again in this area
(between Brewery Rd. and Black Creek Rd.). Tankers from Beavers Falls have
been requested to respond back to the scene.
UPDATE (3:06
p.m.): Beavers Falls and New Bremen have been requested to return to the
scene with a full response. A Lewis County Search & Rescue ambulance
has been requested as well.
UPDATE (03:10
p.m.): An excavator has been requested to respond to the scene to assist
in demolition of the structure.

p.m.): Statement from the American Red Cross:
“Volunteers from
the Central and Northern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross
provided immediate emergency aid to five people after a fire
Wednesday on State Route 812 in Croghan, Lewis County. The Red Cross
provided financial assistance which can be used for necessities
such as shelter, food, and clothing to two adults
and three children, ages 3, 5, and 7. Volunteers
also offered emotional support, comfort kits containing personal care
items, and stuffed animals for the children. In the coming days, Red
Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by
the fire as they navigate the road to recovery.”
UPDATE (04:00
p.m.): State Route 812 is still closed between Brewery Rd. and Black Creek
Rd. at this time as the scene remains active. Lewis County Highway
Department has arrived on scene with the requested excavator.

(05:30 p.m.): State Route 812 has been reopened to traffic.
