November Sees Above Average Temperature and Near
Normal Precipitation for Lowville

Lowville, NY- Overall, Lowville
saw above average temperatures and near normal precipitation last month,
according to weather data compiled from the Northeast Regional Climate Center
(dating back to 1893).
November finished
with a mean average temperature (cumulative highs and lows) of 39.8 degrees
in Lowville, a full 4.1 degrees above the normal mean average temperature
for November in Lowville of 35.7 degrees. In terms of ranking, it was the 17th
warmest November on record. The warmest November on record for Lowville
occurred in 1931, when the mean average temperature for the month was 44.1
degrees. The coldest November occurred in 1933, when the mean average
temperature was 22.4 degrees for the month. The highest temperature of the
month last month reached 72 degrees on November 6th. The lowest temperature
recorded during the month was 16 degrees on November 21st.
November saw a
total of 4.01 inches of precipitation in Lowville, slightly above the
normal of 3.75 inches for the month. This ranks as the 53rd wettest November
on record. The wettest November on record was in 1900, with 7.3 inches of
precipitation recorded, while the driest November on record occurred in 1904,
with just 0.21 inches of precipitation. Measurable precipitation was
recorded on 15 days last month, with two additional days recording a trace
amount. The most precipitation recorded on a single day last month was 2.25
inches, recorded on November 12.
The first measurable
snow accumulation of the season was measured at 2 inches on November 16.
While northern portions of Lewis County were impacted by a mid-month lake
effect snow event with snow accumulations in excess of
80 inches reported, Lowville saw a total of 7.8 inches of new snow for the
month of November. That was below the normal 9.4 inches for the month. The
most snow recorded on a single day last month was 2.5 inches on November 18.
The record for November snow in Lowville occurred in 2018, when 36.4 inches
of new snow accumulated during the month.
