NOTICE FROM
LOWVILLE ICE RINK:
Ice making has commenced at the Forest
Park Pavilion skating rink at the Lewis County Fairgrounds in Lowville!
“While our
refrigeration system is very beneficial for both making and keeping ice
through the up and down temperatures of our recent winters, with our open-air
rink it still requires a decent stretch of colder weather to make the
initial sheet of ice, a stretch we finally had this week.
Volunteers have
been working around the clock to build the ice, layer by layer, since
Monday evening. To get a solid sheet of ice the water is applied in
thin layers, waiting for each layer to dry before the next is applied.
The progress has
been good, but the warmer temps of the next few days will slow things down.
NO official
opening date has been announced yet, more work will be needed this coming
weekend and into next week to finish ice and have everything ready to open.
Once an opening
date is official it will be posted here and advertised widely.”
