Portion of East Road in Lowville Closed Until Further Notice After Boring for Number Three Wind Transmission Line Causes Collapse

Lowville, NY- A portion of the East Road in the town of Lowville will be closed indefinitely after boring under the roadway for transmission lines for the Number Three Wind Farm project caused a collapse of the roadway on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Town officials had hoped to have the roadway reopened on Wednesday afternoon, but as of Wednesday afternoon the intended fix to the situation didnít work out as planned. Officials say that the roadway will remain closed until further notice. Town officials are working with the contractors for Number Three Wind to resolve the situation. No timeline was given for when the road is expected to be repaired and reopened.

 

The impacted potion is located 9/10ths of a mile from the State Route 812 intersection to just past the Maple Ridge Center. Motorists can still access the Sharp Road intersection from the East Road via 812 and detour that way to State Route 26.
