Lowville, NY- The Village of
Lowville Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on April 6th at 4
p.m. to conduct their 2022-2023 organizational meeting and hold a public
hearing for the 2022-23 Tentative Budget, in addition to any other business
that comes before the Board.
The proposed tentative budget increases spending by $22,180 (0.99 percent)
over last year, taking total appropriations from $2,229,970 last year to
$2,252,150 in this year's tentative plan.

The amount to be
collected through taxes (tax levy) increases by $18,186 (1 percent), from
$1,720,308 last year to $1,738,494 in this year's proposed plan. This
exceeds the property tax cap limit imposed by New York State, in part due
to the dissolution of the Village court- a service included in last year’s
budget but no longer provided beginning this year. Although the amount to
be collected through taxes is proposed to go up slightly, the actual tax
rate will remain the same at $9.464839/$1,000 of assessed value.
Any village resident
with questions on the proposed 2021-22 spending plan is encouraged to
attend the public hearing on April 6th. The three proposed budget documents
are included below for review:
2022-23 Village of Lowville Tentative General Budget
2022-23 Village of Lowville Tentative Water Budget
2022-23 Village of Lowville Tentative Sewer Budget
