NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST SATURDAY...
* WHAT...Flooding
caused by possible ice jams and recent excessive
rainfall and snowmelt.
* WHERE...A
portion of central New York, including the following
county, Lewis.
* WHEN...Until
400 AM EST Saturday.
*
IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or
occurring. Depending on
ice behavior, any release of the ice jam
could result in sudden
rises of water, leading to a rapid flooding
situation.
* ADDITIONAL
DETAILS...
- At 732 PM EST, the Boonville gauge on
the Black River
indicates a possible ice jam due to
recent heavy rain and
snow melt. Flooding is possible or
already occurring in the
warned area.
- Some locations that will experience
flooding include...
Lowville, Whetstone Gulf State Park,
New Bremen, Watson,
Martinsburg, Lyonsdale,
Greig, Port Leyden, Lyons Falls,
Turin, Sperryville, Brantingham,
Kirschnerville and
Talcottville.

ACTIONS...
Turn around,
don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in
vehicles.
Stay away or be
swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and
unsafe.

unpredictable. River levels may fluctuate rapidly at
any time.
