Lewis County Court Activity Report for January 14,

Lowville, NY- The following
plea and sentencing activity took place on Friday morning in Lewis County
Court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding:
James D. Barker, 62, of
Copenhagen, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree Unlawful
Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a class C felony, admitting to possessing
items with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine on July 15, 2021, at
his residence in the town of Denmark. He was then placed in the Lewis
County Drug Court program for one year, with final sentencing scheduled
after the completion of drug court. If drug court is successful, Mr. Barker
would be placed under probation supervision for 5 years and if the drug
court program is deemed unsuccessful, Mr. Barker would be sentenced to 4
years in State prison. Mr. Barker was previously convicted of third-degree
Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in Lewis County Court on June 4,
2021. The current charge resulted in a probation violation for the previous
conviction, which Mr. Barker admitted, resulting in his original terms of
probation being restored by Judge King.
Shane E. Snyder, 26, of
Glenfield, pleaded guilty to one count each of fourth-degree Criminal
Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class D felony; second-degree
Criminal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor; and
Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order, a violation. Mr. Snyder admitted to
possessing over half an ounce of methamphetamine and digital scales during
a traffic stop in the town of Greig on November 4, 2020, while additionally
admitting that he did not initially comply with the traffic stop. He was
then placed in the Lewis County Drug Court program for one year, with final
sentencing scheduled after the completion of drug court.
The next session
of Lewis County Court is scheduled for February 4, 2022.
