| Everything You Need To Know About Lewis County In One Place! |
Lowville- The 15th annual Lewis County Harvest of the Arts festival is taking place this year on Saturday, October 3rd, from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Maple Ridge Center on the East Road, just outside of Lowville. Admission to the festival is free and offers a full day of family fun!
County School District student art walk, antique car show, Tug Hill Quilters Exhibit, food and live music by Good Golly. Here are some of the artisan vendors you can expect at this years show as described on the festival's Facebook Page: ROOT 42 RUSTICS will be joining us again this year. Mary Traylor is a wonderful artist in many mediums, my favorite is her hand carved wooden spoons and utensils. J&M Crafts, Joe and Mary Thurston will be joining us this year with their beautiful leather handcrafted items. Another one of our award winners, Bear Pond Bowls, will be at the Harvest of the Arts again this year. You do not want to miss Joe Roggie's beautifully carved burl bowls and other interesting wood pieces. We are welcoming back Julia Stoffle with her Hemp Creations again this year. Please plan to check out her display of handmade jewelry! Peter Basta is one of our new artisans this year, be sure to check out his fantastic letter art when you come to the Harvest of the Arts. Check out Guinea Pig Creations by Carole Beseler! Carole creates jewelry with vintage silverware, turning your Grandmother's pieces into wearable fashion. Completely Claudia features art in several mediums from artist Claudia Chandler, including wearable fiber art, baskets, silversmith jewelry and painting. Natalie Roye, another award winner from last year will be with us this weekend with her glass work and Colleen Arvanites is back with her pretty and functional handbags too! Our award winning wood burner Andy Hunter, Thunder Top Studio, is back again this year, be sure to check out his beautiful designs. We are also welcoming newcomers this year, Frank and Debbie Kogut with their natural honey products! Another new artisan for us this year is Once Fired Jewelry, they use spent ammunition and upcycle them into beautiful, one-of-a-kind handmade items. Their collection includes unique jewelry for both men and women in a large variety of calibers and styles. Kelly Mear is bringing her crafts this Saturday and so is Elaine Brouty, be sure to check out Elaine's jams and jellies, they are always delicious! Trout Lake Driftwood will be at the Harvest of the Arts Saturday with their nature inspired crafts using driftwood. Kenneth Ortlieb will be joining us again with his Peaceful Creations, Kenny has been a longtime supporter of our event! Rosetta Landis of Murmur Creek Farm is another new artisan joining us for the first time on Saturday, stop by to see her handpieced quilts, wall hangings and baby quilts. We are thrilled to have the Tug Hill Quilters Guild join us this year! They will be in the main house from 10-4 Saturday displaying machine and hand pieced quilts. Also on display will be a quilt in a curved log cabin design that is up for raffle. This is a large, queen size quilt made in fall colors of batiks.The raffle quilt is the main source of funding for the guild. The money raised is used to purchase materials for the baby and dialysis quilts made for patients at Lewis County General Hospital. Be sure to stop in a enjoy their beautiful works and buy a raffle ticket. Traditional Mennonite food will be available, provided by the wonderful cooks of the Adirondack Mennonite Heritage Association and we also have LaMont's Food Fair at the Harvest of the Arts. |
