Lowville- Voters across Lewis County took to the polls today to cast their ballots in the Republican and Conservative primary elections. Polls closed at 9 PM, and the unofficial results are in! In the county-wide race to move on to the general election in November for District Attorney, Lydia L. Young has won the right to represent both Republicans and Conservatives after defeating Adam R. Matteson. Mr Matteson will appear on the November ballot on the "ForLewisCounty" line, as well as Democrat incumbent Leanne Moser, making it a three-way race. Neither candidate has received the votes needed to represent the Conservative party for County Clerk in the general election, with the race very tight and too close to call between Penny Demo and Linda Hoskins. Ms. Hoskins holds the Republican line by a current vote of 1006 - 938 with 100% of the districts reporting. Ms. Demo will be representing the Independence Party and Key to Success Party in the November election. All results are unofficial. There are 125 absentee ballots plus an unknown amount of affidavit ballots to be counted. At this point county clerk race is too close to assume any winner on republican or conservative lines. Absentee ballots will begin to be counted on Thursday September 17, according to Ann Nortz, with the county Board of Elections. Other notable races included the race to represent District 7 in the county legislature, won by Greg Kulzer for the Republican line 150 votes to 100 and C. Lee Hinkleman on the Conservative line currently by a 2-1 vote with 100% of their district reporting. Jerry King appears to have secured the republican line in the District 10 legislature race against John Healt. Results for all the local races currently:
