According to Sheriff Robert Maciol; on July 12, 2016 ; at 11:49 a.m, Deputy E.J. Wiatr III, responded to a 3 car motor vehicle accident that occurred on Rome New London Rd in the Town of Verona. Jill M. Bausman, 31 years old, of Syracuse was driving her 2015 Dodge Van in a Southwesterly direction on Rome New London Rd, when she was stopped so an uninvolved Jeep could turn left into a driveway. Rosemary Wright, 68 years old of Blossvale was operating her 2011 Honda when was slowing to stop as well. Julie M. Sweeney 48, years old of West Leyden was operating her 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe in the same direction as well and failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of Wright's vehicle which in turn sent Wright's vehicle into the rear of Bausman's vehicle. Wright was transported to Oneida City Hospital for hand pain. The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by New London Fire Department and the New York State Police. Sweeney was issued a ticket for following too closely and is due to appear at the Town of Verona Court at a later date. |
