Lowville- If you have been through downtown Lowville recently you may have
    noticed a new business that has opened on South State Street, near the Lewis
    County Historical Society.

    Winter Castle Games officially opened for business on April 7th. We had a
    chance to visit the shop earlier this week and sit down with owner David Fraser
    and manager Gerald Boyer to discuss the new venture.

    "I'm just excited to offer the community a family-friendly venue for people of all
    ages to enjoy a variety of games," Mr. Fraser said.

    The second-floor location offers a retail store, selling a variety of games and
    accessories, as well as a large, open gaming room with tables to play card
    games, board games, tournaments and more. A Nintendo Wii U is also setup in
    the game room and is available to play popular video games.

    The store is considered a core store for Wizard of the Coast, a publisher of
    games, primarily based on fantasy and science fiction themes, including Magic:
    the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons.

    They also feature the Stars Wars Role Playing Game, Pokemon cards, decks,
    packs and accessories, Pop Figures collectibles, a variety of board games, as
    well as accessories, playmats, card sleeves and other game related
    merchandise. There are also used video games for sale. Beverages and
    snacks are also available.

    The game room, with large windows looking down onto Lowville's main street,
    is free to use and is also where tournaments are held throughout the week.

    Mr. Fraser, a former math instructor at Rochester Institute of Technology and
    Monroe Community College, and his wife, Dr. Cynthia Fraser, an OBGYN
    doctor at Lewis County General Hospital, live in Lowville with their two
    daughters, ages eleven and fifteen. He coached a LYSA soccer team for two
    seasons and is a board member on the Lowville Free Library Board of Trustees.

    "My daughters really got me into games," he said, continuing "From a young
    age they loved Pokemon and that's what got me started."

    Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays- 12 PM - 8 PM
    Fridays- 12 PM - 10 PM
    Saturdays- 10 PM - 8 PM
    Sundays- 1 PM - 5 PM
