Lowville- A new two-year contract has been approved between Lewis County
General Hospital and Residential Health Care Facility and the Civil Service
Employees Association, the union representing more than 500 employees at
the hospital. Employees had been without a contract since January 1st, with
the hospital under a hiring freeze, which has now been lifted.

The new deal was approved by a 262-17 vote on Monday by union workers,
and was previously approved by the Board of Managers at the hospital. The
deal includes raises of 2.5% for 2016 and 2017 for employees and increases
the employee contribution for health insurance premiums to 24% in 2016 and
25% in 2017. Employees will also be offered a 10% discount in the hospital
    cafeteria.
