Lowville- The Lewis County Board of Legislators held their April regular
    monthly meeting here Tuesday evening. We have put together a recap of some
    of the things acted on.

    - Legislators approved the opening of the county's ATV trail system for April
    11th this year, as opposed to the normal date of May 1st. Due to favorable
    weather conditions, officials believe most trails on the system will be ready to
    go. The ATV trails will be open until October 11th.

    - The board appointed Marguerite R. Mastascusa, of Lowville,to the Lewis
    County General Hospital Board of Managers.

    -Legislators approved a resolution to create the following positions at the lewis
    County General Hospital: Chief Operating Officer and Assistant Nursing Home
    Administrator. Legislator Bryan Moser opposed the resolution while Legislator
    Phil Hathaway abstained. The motion carried by an 8-1 vote.

    - The board approved extending a contract with Wladis Law Firm for $5,000
    per month through August 31st. Wladis was hired in May of 2015 to advocate
    on behalf of the county at the State level for funding and providing professional
    grant writing services.

    -Legislators approved the creation of a Labor-Management Safety Committee
    and appointed members.






























    - A public hearing was set for the May 3rd meeting on a resolution to make
    additions to the ATV Trail System. The resolution was amended to reflect the
    Culpepper Road location to be in the Town of Montague, not the Town of
    Greig.































    - The legislators moved to hold the regular May 3rd meeting at 5 PM at the
    Lyons Falls Library on High Street in Lyons Falls. The vote was 9-1 with
    Legislator Greg Kulzer opposed, citing concerns of displacing a dance class
    normally scheduled at the library for that time.

    - The board approved a resolution authorizing a contract between the Lewis
    County Clerk and Info Quick Systems (IQS) for the online access to public
    records filed with the County Clerk's office.
