entrepreneur Kaera Sawler. The vision is set to become a reality with the grand opening of Kaleidoscope Studio on Saturday, April 30th. Kaera, along with her husband Dave and their three children, have been putting the finishing touches on the studio in preparation of the opening. The studio has a large open space area for classes, a party room, and an area to sell snacks and beverages that includes a refrigerator. "There are not a lot of options for group parties and activities for people of all ages here in Lewis County, especially for children parties," Kaera said during an interview on Monday. "I have always loved arts and crafts and wanted to share this love with the community, while offering a venue to meet this need," she continued, stressing her desire to provide an affordable and easy option for those from all walks of life to enjoy a relaxing environment to be creative. The studio, located at 7518 South State Street, at the Elm Street intersection in the Village of Lowville, will be hosting a grand opening from 1 PM - 4 PM on Saturday with refreshments and special promotions throughout the day. The first ten people at the grand opening will receive a FREE class that evening at 6:30 PM, while the next fifteen people will be offered a discounted rate of $20 for that evening's class. "I wanted something artsy and creative sounding that would represent an ever changing and growing environment," Kaera shared when asked how the name came about. "When you look into a kaleidoscope you get just that, many colors and shapes that change and create different looks every time you look through them." The plan is to offer a variety of arts and crafts classes along with socializing, in a relaxing setting. Painting classes on canvas, wine glasses, slate and other mediums will be offered, as well as sign-making, scrapbooking, knitting and quilting classes. There will also be sessions for Zentangle, a new craze in the art world. Private studio time will be available in addition to group classes. There will be a couples night, where couples can work on a painting together, or work on two individual paintings that will merge to make one painting when completed. The party room offers a great venue for children's birthday parties, baby showers and bachelorette parties. In home group parties can be scheduled as well. Kaera is a certified instructor in the Donna Dewbery one-stroke method of painting, known worldwide. She really looks to Donna as an inspiration, recently meeting her and seeing how caring and giving she was. Kaera wants to emulate that experience and give that same joy to others. The studio is child friendly, with all ages invited to participate. A portion of each sale and class will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a cause important to the family as Kaera is herself battling the disease. "Art can be very therapeutic, especially to those suffering from MS," Kaera said.
