Lowville- Friday marked the opening day of trout season across New York
State. With the new season here, now is a great time to catch up on rules and
regulations. We have put together a list of information and links from the NYS
DEC of everything you need to know for the 2016 fishing season.

    Check your fishing license:
Now that an annual fishing license is good for 365 days from the date of
purchase, it is easy to forget when it expires. Check your license to make sure
you are ready for the spring fishing season. You can purchase your fishing
license on-line or visit one of the Sporting License Issuing Agents.

    2016/17 Fishing Regulations Guide Available:
The 2016/17 Fishing Regulations Guide is now available at license issuing
agents. The guide is effective from April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017. Pick
one up at one of the Sporting License Issuing Agent Locations (chart above).

The Freshwater Fishing Regulations are also available online.

2016 Statewide Spring Fishing Season Opening Dates:
April 1: Trout, Atlantic Salmon and Striped Bass
May 7: Walleye, Northern Pike, Pickerel, Tiger Muskellunge
    May 28: Muskellunge

Read all the statewide angling regulations.
