First Time Home Buyer Information Session Scheduled for May 9th

Lowville

Snow Belt Housing Inc. has announced that a first time home buyer

information session will be held on Monday, May 9th from 6 PM - 8 PM at the

Town of Lowville Municipal Office on Bostwick Street.

The session is intended to help people determine if they can qualify for

available grants for down payments and closing costs through Lewis County's

Direct Homeownership Assistance Program.

In February, Lewis County Legislators approved a sub-recipient agreement

with Snow Belt Housing to

provide administrative and program delivery

services for the $324,800 grant

for first time home buyers at an administrative

cost of $44.800, payable

through the grant funds.

At that time, Cheryl Shenkle-O'neill, executive director at Snow Belt Housing,

presented

the legislative board with final details of the $200,000 first time home

buyer funds

approved in 2014 that recently ended. A total of seven people

received

assistance through the program, which had been projected to assist

five. The

hopes are to assist ten to fifteen individuals in this new round of

funding.
