PRESS RELEASE
On November 6,
2021, at 10:37 p.m., State Police responded to a one-vehicle roll-over
crash on Deer River Road in the town of Denmark, Lewis County.
The preliminary
investigation has determined that a 2016 GMC Terrain, operated by Emily
S. Ashline, age 31 from Carthage, NY, was
traveling eastbound on Deer River Road when she lost control on a curve in
the roadway, crossed over into the westbound lane, striking a barbed wire
fence and several wood fence posts. The vehicle
then crossed back over into the eastbound lane, down an earth embankment,
subsequently coming to rest on its roof in a rocky area on the edge of the
Deer River.
Emily Ashline was pronounced deceased at the scene. A
34-year-old female passenger was transported to Lewis County General
Hospital, where she was treated and released.
The investigation
is continuing.
