The annual Lowville Turkey Trot was held on a typical November north country day. Thanksgiving Day greeted approximately 165 runners with temperatures in the mid-thirties and cloudy skies. Family groups of seven and eight came from near and far, and surprise, this year there was no snow!

The event is a family fun run with no official timing or awards. Many participants dress in turkey attire and we had a great group of children among the walkers and runners. Everyone has a good time and by 10 AM we head home to enjoy the remainder of the holiday.

There were many speedy runners this year. Grace Bailey from Lyons Falls was the fastest women at 21:44. She was followed by Liz Anderson in 22:31, Cheryl Steiner in 23:10, Rylee Campeau at 23:22 and Ana Campeau and Grace Davis close behind in 24:01. For the men, Hunter Moore from Croghan led the pack in a swift 17:55. Conner Zehr – 20:05, old guy Doug Domagala – 20:54, Brandon Atwood – 21:25 and Ethan Moore – 21:25 were close behind.

Double Play Community Center is proud to host the tenth annual Lowville Turkey Trot. Double Play expresses a special thank you to Dr. Steve Lyndaker and Dr. Shareen Palmer at Lowville Medical Associates. The local medical practice has sponsored the run every year since its inception.

The Turkey Trot provides all of its proceeds to the United Way Renee Beyer Memorial Fund with approximately $1,600 raised this year. Double Play Community Center has been dedicated to raising funds for this cause with multiple events each year. The Lowville Turkey Trot will be back in 2022 to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday.
