PRESS RELEASE
Lewis County Office for the Aging is proud to
announce the 2021 Recipient of our Annual Randy Streeter Older Adult of the
Year Award
Each year, Lewis County Office for the
Aging accepts nominations from community members seeking volunteers ages 60
and over who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to older adults
of Lewis County, their community and have shown a sincere and faithful
dedication to older adults through their personal actions.
Congratulations to Gerald Snyder, this year’s
recipient of the Randy Streeter Older Adult of the Year Award.
Mr. Snyder is a
lifelong resident of Copenhagen. He has volunteered in the village for
decades serving 50 years in the Copenhagen Volunteer Fire Department,
working at Copenhagen Central School, serving as President of the CCS
Alumni Association, and voluntary work with the soccer and wrestling
programs in Copenhagen. He was also Fire Police for 5 decades and is a
retired Fort Drum Firefighter.
Gerald lost his
beloved wife of 50 years, MaryAnne Snyder, in September of 2019. He has 3
children and 5 grandchildren. He is an avid hunter and fisherman.
Gerald was
nominated by his son in law Randy D Streeter, II who said- “There is no one
more deserving of this recognition than Gerald Snyder. When you say the
words “Lewis County” or “Copenhagen,” thousands of local people (young and
old) literally think of his smile, his work ethic, his selflessness, and
his Legacy in the making. It takes a special dedication and strong desire
to help others to sacrifice time with his family for his community. He has
spent thousands and thousands of volunteer hours protecting and molding his
community over a span of 5 decades. He is what defines Lewis County.”
Congratulations
Mr. Snyder. You are truly a shining example of service and dedication.
Lewis County is very lucky to have you. Thank you for everything you do for
our county and for our community
