Lowville, NY- The New York State Department of Health has once again recommended that the Village of Lowville issue a “conserve water watch,” due to relativity low levels in the reserve water tank. A watch is the first of four stages in water conservation measures, which go from watch to warning to emergency to critical.

Village of Lowville DPW Superintendent Paul Denise said an issue at one of the largest water users on Friday brought reserve levels below an acceptable level, leaving the 20-foot water reserve tower below 14 feet, prompting the watch as a precautionary measure. The issue has since been resolved and Mr. Denise expects the storage tank to be back at an acceptable level in the next few days.

In the meantime, residents on the village water system are asked to voluntarily refrain from unnecessary water consumption, such as watering lawns, washing cars and filling swimming pools. Residents are asked to just be conscious of the amount of water they are using.

We’ll update as soon as the watch has been lifted.
