Carthage Man arrested following a domestic dispute
and threatening several police officers

PRESS RELEASE
On August 14,
2021, The New York State Police arrested 35-year-old Joshua D. Winkempleck from Carthage, NY, for (5) counts
of Menacing a Police Officer (class “D” felony), Criminal Possession of a
Weapon 3rd Degree (class “D” felony), Aggravated Family Offense (class “E”
felony), Menacing 2nd Degree (class “A” misdemeanor), and Unlawful
Imprisonment 2nd Degree (class “A” misdemeanor).
Mr. Winkempleck is alleged to have been involved in a
domestic dispute with a female and then threatened to hit several law enforcement officers with two claw hammers.
Mr. Winkempleck was arraigned in the Town of Rutland Court
and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building in lieu of cash
bail set in the amount of $10,000.
State
Police was assisted in this investigation by the Village of Carthage Police
Department, Village of West Carthage Police Department, Carthage Area
Rescue Squad, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
