JCC to Launch Non-Profit Leadership Microcredential
Classes begin August 31
Jefferson
Community College (JCC) announces the launch of a new microcredential
program in non-profit leadership. A microcredential
is a short-term program to supply working individuals with an understanding
of new skills to meet specific needs of an organization and supply a
refresher on current skills.
JCC’s non-profit
leadership microcredential program runs 15-weeks
with classes beginning August 31, 2021. Classes will meet six hours per
week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Instruction includes a combination of
in-person and remote learning. During the non-profit leadership program,
students will learn about the significant role of board members, community
stakeholders and organizational leadership; public governance, accounting
skills, the role of non-profits in the community, and the responsibilities
of leadership and how it applies to non-profit organizations.
Upon successful
completion not only do students receive a microcredential,
but they also earn 9 college credits. Credits can be transferred to a
degree or certificate program at JCC if the student later decides to
further their education.
The non-profit
leadership microcredential is intended for
current and future employees of non-profit organizations, and anyone who is
interested in a career in the non-profit sector may enroll. There are no
prerequisites. Cost is $2133 and federal financial aid may be
available.
