Brantingham, NY- A 48-year-old Maryland woman was transported to a Utica hospital with an upper arm injury after being struck by a vehicle while jogging on the Partridgeville Road in the town of Greig on Sunday evening.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office tells us that Kelly Ledford, 48, of Maryland, was jogging southwest on the Partridgeville Road, in Brantingham, when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northeast at approximately 7:45 p.m. The vehicle operator, Neil Pepper, 75, of Florida, was coming around a curve and did not see Ms. Ledford jogging, according to the Sheriff’s office, “clipping” her with the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Ms. Ledford was transported by Lewis County Search & Rescue to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica with a presumed upper arm/shoulder fracture. Mr. Pepper and a passenger in his vehicle were not injured in the incident. The vehicle had minor damage to the front passenger side fender and mirror and was able to be driven from the scene.

No tickets were issued, according to the Sheriff’s office, with the cause of the accident described as being due to the rainy conditions at dusk and the obstructed and limited view on the curve.

The Brantingham and Glenfield Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
