FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 15, 2021
Lewis County Free Covid 19 Testing Program Ends on July 16th, 2021
Lowville, New York – Lewis County Health
System (LCHS), in partnership with the New York State Department of Health,
has been offering free drive-thru Covid-19 testing to our community since
July 22, 2020, with approximately 11,200 free tests administered. The NYS
free Covid-19 testing program ends on Friday, July 16, 2021. LCHS is committed to finding another
funding source to continue free Covid-19 screening in Lewis County, however,
in the short term the service will be suspended.
Free Covid-19 screening tests are no
longer available after July 16th, and the Covid-19 testing at Maple Ridge
on the East Road in Lowville is suspended until further notice. Any
patients needing testing for symptoms should contact their physician to
order testing at Lewis County General Hospital through the lab. People
requiring a Covid test for preoperative screening should contact their surgeon
to arrange testing. Anyone needing a Covid screening test for travel,
access to a venue, or other reasons should find an alternative testing
site. Alternative test site options can be found on the NYS Covid-19
website.
LCHS apologizes for any inconvenience
this temporary suspension of free Covid testing causes for the communities we
serve in Lewis County.
