Fence Crew Severs Underground Wire Causing Brief Power Outage for 1,726 National Grid Customers in Lowville Area

Description automatically generatedLowville, NY- Approximately 1,726 National Grid customers in the Lowville area experienced a brief power outage this morning, after a fence crew working at the Lowville VFW severed an underground wire.

 

The incident occurred around 10:10 a.m., causing a power outage in downtown Lowville and areas west of the village.

 

Lowville Fire was dispatched to the Lowville VFW on West State St., with Fire Chief Joe Austin telling us that a fence crew working at the VFW hit an underground main wire which tripped the substation.

 

National Grid was able to bypass the line after arriving on scene, restoring power for the 1,726 impacted customers around 10:30 a.m.
