Lowville, NY-  The New York State Department of Health has recommended that the Village of Lowville issue a “conserve water watch,” due to relativity low levels in the reserve water tank. A watch is the first of four stages of water conservation measures, which go from watch to warning to emergency to critical.

Village of Lowville DPW Superintendent Paul Denise said dry weather and an increased demand for water have left the 20-foot water reserve tower at around 12 feet, prompting the watch as a precautionary measure.

At this time, residents on the village water system are asked to refrain from unnecessary water consumption, such as watering lawns and filling swimming pools. Residents are asked to be conscious of the amount of water they are using. By implementing these measures now, officials hope to prevent further depletion of the reserve water supply, Mr. Denise said.

This is a developing situation and officials are monitoring the situation closely. We’ll have additional updates as they become available.
