closer to the $100,000 Raise the Roof Capitol
Campaign goal set to replace the roof on the Forest
Avenue building.
The Arc,
Oneida-Lewis Chapter received a big boost to their Raise the Roof Capital Campaign
project to replace the roof at the Progress Industries building in Lowville,
with the announcement this morning of a $25,000 matching grant awarded by
the Cloudsplitter Foundation.
Cloudsplitter Foundation
Director Chenelle Palyswial
visited the facility today, with a tour of the building and a check
presentation ceremony taking place.
“Having the
opportunity to tour around today and see first-hand the individuals working
here and how they are so supported was really a special opportunity for me,”
Ms. Palyswial said after the tour, adding that
this one of her first in-person award deliveries in over a year due to the
COVID-19 pandemic. “Our mission is to help improve the lives of individuals
and being able to meet and see the people impacted by our work is always
special,” she said.
The Arc initially
set out to raise $25,000 to secure a matching grant of $25,000 from The Cloudsplitter Foundation to install a new roof on its
Progress Industries building, located on Forest Ave. in Lowville. Progress
Industries provides employment opportunities in an inclusive working
environment for people with and without developmental disabilities through
contracted work with local and national companies.
The size and
scope of the project were more involved than initially planned due to the
discovery of structural components needing repair before the new roof can
be installed. Through other generous grants, support from local businesses,
donations from friends and neighbors, and this matching grant from The Cloudsplitter Foundation, The Arc has now raised a total
of $68,000 toward the new estimated cost of $100,000 for this project.
