Local School District Budget Votes and Board of
Education Election Results

Budget votes and
board of education elections took place today for local school districts,
with the following results:
BEAVER RIVER
CENTRAL
Voters approved
the district’s $18,241,189 spending plan by a 226-68 vote, along with a
proposition to purchase 3 new buses. Voters also voted overwhelmingly in
favor of a series of propositions making changes to the Board of Education.
Starting with the 2022-23 elections, seats will be elected at large instead
of by specific seat. Terms will be reduced from the current five years to
three years, effective with terms starting July 1, 2022, and a member of
the high school senior class will be designated as an ex officio member of
the Board of Education.
Board of
Education Election Results:
Jacqueline Pate
was elected to a seat on the Board with 246 votes. Todd Lyndaker
recived 59 votes.
Todd Lighthall was elected to a seat on the Board with 164
votes. Kevin Zehr received 137 votes.
COPENHAGEN
CENTRAL SCHOOL
Voters approved
the district’s $11,674,922 budget proposal by a 63-6 vote. A proposition to
provide transportation for Head Start students was also approved. Lynn
Murray and Robert Stackel, both running
unopposed, were reelected to seats on the Board of Education.
HARRISVILLE
CENTRAL SCHOOL
The district’s $11,644,734
spending plan was approved by a 74-13 vote. A proposition approving the
purchase of 2 new buses was also accepted. Cory Bearor,
running unopposed, was reelected to a seat on the Board of Education.
LOWVILLE ACADEMY
& CENTRAL SCHOOL
Voters approved
the district’s $28,067,434 budget proposal by a vote of 239-22.
Propositions approving the purchase of 3 new buses and approving
transportation for Head Start students were overwhelmingly accepted. Stacey
McConnell was elected to the Board of Education by a 154-108 vote over
Andrew Jennings. Michael Judd and Shereen Palmer, both running unopposed,
were also elected to terms on the Board of Education.
SOUTH LEWIS
CENTRAL
Voters approved
the $28,000,656 budget by a vote of 221 to 80. A proposition to purchase 3
new buses was also approved. Jessica Carpenter (239 votes) and Blake Place
(127 votes) were elected to the 2 seats on the Board of Education. Mark
Austin received 122 votes and Joanna Daily received 114.
