Lowville, NY- The
Lewis County Fair Board of Directors met last evening, voting in favor of
moving forward with plans to host the 200th edition of the
annual fair July 20-24, 2021.
“We are so excited
to officially announce that we will be celebrating the 200th edition of The
Lewis County Fair July 20-24,” an announcement on the Fair Facebook Page states. “We have
lots to do before then, but we are choosing to look at this as the glass
half full! There will be some changes to make the fair run safely. We ask
you for patience and flexibility as we navigate uncharted waters!”
The fair will be
adhering to recent New York State
guidance issued earlier this week for local fairs and festivals.
“We’ll be taking
some extra precautions, such as informational signage and additional hand
sanitizing stations,” Rachel Lisk, Lewis County
Fair Manager told linkinglewiscounty.com.
Fairgoers can
expect to see many of the traditional events associated with the popular
event, Ms. Lisk said. Once again there will be no
admission at the gate to enter the grounds and enjoy the fair. The Tuesday
night parade and fireworks show will still take place. The Coleman Brothers
will be providing the midway, as in past years, and will be handling
sanitizing and other pandemic related protocols for the midway portion of
the fair. The Friday night concert is expected to take place, with the Oak
Ridge Boys headlining. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here. Visitors can also expect some new events and
contests, along with the animal exhibits that are a staple of the county
fair.
One area that the
Board of Directors are still evaluating are the grandstand shows. With a
current capacity limit set at 33 percent due to pandemic protocols,
officials are working on a feasible plan to still offer the grandstand
shows in a safe manner.
“This is a year
that we really have to work together as a community in order to safely hold
the fair,” Ms. Lisk said.
With lots of work
still to be done, the Board of Directors will be meeting again on June 2nd
to further discuss operational plans and details. Further details will be
forthcoming over the next few weeks. In the meantime, mark your calendars
for the 200th edition of the Lewis County Fair, July 20-24,
2021!
