Lewis County Court Activity Report for May 25, 2021

Lowville, NY- The following
plea and sentencing activity took place on Tuesday in Lewis County Court,
with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding:
Mary L. Baker, 64, of
Copenhagen, was placed on interim conditions of probation for a year on a
charge of first-degree Attempted Possession of a Forged Instrument, a class
C felony, to which she pleaded guilty to on April 16 when admitting to
attempting to pass
a counterfeit $100 bill when trying to purchase items at the Stewart’s Shop
in Copenhagen on June 23, 2020. Final sentencing in the case was
adjourned to May 27, 2022. If interim probation is successful, the felony
charge would be reduced to a misdemeanor.
William C. Deamer, 47, of Harrisville, pleaded guilty to
one count of second-degree Criminal Contempt, a class A misdemeanor,
stemming from a domestic dispute
in the town of Diana on January 19, 2021. Sentencing in
the case was scheduled for July 16, when Mr. Deamer
is expected to be sent to the Lewis County Jail for 9 months.
Sasha E. Eckelman, 33, was resentenced after admitting to
violating her terms of probation. Ms. Eckelman was placed on a 5-year probation term on
December 2, 2016, after pleading guilty to a charge of fifth-degree Criminal
Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony, when
she admitted to possessing and selling heroin in the Town of Watson in
April of 2016, and was one of the sixteen people arrested during Operation
Northern Watch in September of 2016. On Tuesday, Ms. Eckelman was resentenced to serve 2 ½ years in State
prison, followed by 2 years of post-release parole supervision. Judge King
then mandated her to the State prison system’s Willard Drug Rehabilitation
Program, which allows inmates who successfully complete the 90-day program
to serve the remainder of their sentence under parole supervision.
Allen J. LaParr, 42, of Harrisville, pleaded guilty to
one count each of Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor
and second-degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, also
an unclassified misdemeanor. The charges stem from a November 28,
2020 traffic stop in the town of Diana. Sentencing was
adjourned to July 16th, when Mr. LaParr
is expected to be placed on probation supervision for a period of 3 years.
Billy J. Mono, 42, of the town
of Croghan, was sentenced as a second-felony offender to serve 4 years in
State prison, followed by 3 years of post-release parole supervision, on a
charge of second-degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a class C
felony due to a previous meth-making conviction on November 16, 2018. Mr.
Mono pleaded guilty to the charge on April 30, admitting to possessing
items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine at his town of Croghan
residence on December 30, 2019. Mr. Mono was additionally ordered to pay
$375 in court fees and will have his driver’s license suspended for 6
months.
Daniel S. Rounds, 37, of Lyons
Falls, pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Sex Offender Registry
Act registration requirements, a class E felony. Mr. Rounds admitted that
on February 26, in the village of Lowville, he was in possession of a smart
phone that he failed to report and register as required by law as a
convicted sex offender. Sentencing in the case is scheduled for July 16,
when Mr. Rounds is expected to be sent to the Lewis County Jail for 1 year.
Justin J. Waldron, 32, of
Lowville, was sentenced to serve 2 years in State prison, followed by 2
years of post-release parole supervision on charges of third-degree
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class B felony, and
Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor, to which he
pleaded guilty to on April 16 when admitting to possessing 5.7 grams of
methamphetamine and scales used for packaging the substance during a traffic
stop in the town of Martinsburg on October 12, 2020. Judge King
then mandated Mr. Waldron to the State prison system’s
Willard Drug Rehabilitation Program, which allows inmates who successfully
complete the 90-day program to serve the remainder of their sentence under
parole supervision.
The next session of Lewis County Court is scheduled for Friday,
June 04, 2021.
