Lewis County
Health System suspended visits to their nursing home in Lowville on Monday,
notifying families of residents that a staff member has tested positive for
COVID-19.
“Today, we were
notified that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19,” the
notification stated. “Due to this, we must immediately suspend all
visitation for all residents on all floors until we can complete one round
of facility-wide testing. We will begin testing all residents who consent
to testing on Tuesday, April 13th, and should
complete all
resident testing on Wednesday, April 14th.”
Once all of the results are returned from all resident tests,
the nursing home can determine the scope of the outbreak and if specific
nursing units will have continued suspension of visitation. Families were
told they would be kept informed and will be notified when visitation can
restart and on which floors.
In-person visits
at the facility recently restarted on March 30th, in accordance
with visitation changes made by the New York State Department of Health on
March 25th. Both the NYS guidance and nursing home guidelines are included
below.
