CROGHAN LIONS CLUB

DRIVE THRU SPAGHETTI SUPPER

After missing their last three biggest fun and fund-raising events the Croghan Lions Club is looking forward to hosting a Drive Thru Spaghetti Supper on Tuesday, April 27th in the driveways of St. Stephen’s Church off of NYS RT 812 in the Village of Croghan. Everything our patrons are accustomed to will be available – except indoor seating and chatting with old friends. We will be following strict Covid-19 practices during our preparations and throughout the entire procedure. The meal (all 400 of them) will be the same as always – deliciously prepared and with our own recipes – but the logistics will be different!

First, we are asking you to check with your elderly or confined neighbors since we will not be making any home deliveries.

Traffic is our next concern: To avoid any congestion on Main Street we are urging all traffic to turn onto George St. (by Monnat’s Country Store) then take a right on Pearl St. and then a right to Convent St. and a right into the Knights of Columbus parking lot. A parking attendant will direct you into one of 3 lanes which will rotate you back into a single lane.

Then the fun begins: You will be given a sticker for your window noting how many meals you want. You will then be asked how many 50-50 $1.00 Raffle tickets you may want to purchase and give you a yellow sticker noting how many you want. They will need your name and phone # in case you win!

The next stop is to deposit all of the used eyeglasses with intact frames (even store-bought readers), hard glasses cases, and hearing aids you have collected over the years. During the summer all of the clubs in our Zone meet to sort and pack glasses which in turn are graded and sent to those in need in other countries. Would you believe the hard glasses cases make great First Aid Kits! Hearing Aids will now be sent to a local Finger Lakes Club who cleans them up and sells them at minimal prices to folks in our own District who cannot afford the high price of new ones.

Then, “Do you need a Broom?” The Broom lady’s assistant will give you an order form. The regular corn broom is $13, the kid size is $7 and the whiskers are $6.

Now it is time to “Feed the Kitty”… and a kitty’s head we have! We Trust You to add up your own account and also include a “Free Will Donation” for each of your meals… realizing each of us has had different financial gains and losses during these trying times… and we will gladly accept local checks.

Finally – FOOD! Our Chef’s have assured us there should not be a wait for food. Your spaghetti will be sealed tightly in microwaveable and reusable bowls and our servers will certainly get in their steps!

THANK YOU ALL for allowing us to Serve You as we continue to live by our Motto: WE SERVE others in our Lions Community… and yes… we always need several new younger members 😊
