Emergency Crews Dispatched to Pair of Head-on Collisions

Fire Department Dispatch 04:40 PM:

A number of fire departments have just been dispatched to a pair of reported

head-on collisions. Glenfield and Lowville units have been dispatched to a head-

on collision reported on the Pine Grove Rd. in the town of Greig. No serious

injuries were reported, although it was reported there was possible entrapment of

a backseat passenger in one of the vehicles. Just about a minute after crews

were dispatched to that scene another head-on collision was reported on State

Route 3 in the town of Diana, near the Marshy Rd. intersection. Harrisville and

Natural Bridge units were dispatched to that scene. Natural Bridge Fire

requested that State Route 3 be closed at the State Route 812 intersection. A

serious injury is reported at the Route 3 scene, with an air medical helicopter

requested to be placed on standby.

UPDATE 04:55 PM: The entrapped passenger at the Pine Grove Rd. scene has

been extricated from the vehicle. Lowville units have cleared the scene. The

request for an air medical helicopter to standby for the Route 3 scene has been

cancelled. State Route 3 is currently closed to traffic between the State Route

812 and Steam Mill Road intersections.

Update 05:10 PM: Officials on scene at the Route 3 crash expect that the road

will remain closed for an extended period of time.

UPDATE 10:10 PM: Route 3 has reopened to traffic.
