Video: Lowville Academy Recognizes District Veterans With Ceremony

    Lowville, NY- Lowville Academy & Central School held a ceremony this morning
    recognizing Veterans who have graduated from the district, in honor of Veteran's
    Day on Monday, November 11.

    Flags honoring each district Veteran have been placed on the front lawn at the
    school throughout the week. Each of the 304 flags placed include the name,
    graduating class and service branch of the Veteran on the flag staff.

    During the ceremony, students read the name of each known Veteran. The
    student readers included Alyssa Spence, Bryanna Hoppel, Colton Friedersdorf,
    Kirstin Moser, Meredith Lovenduski and Romeyn Noftsier. The ceremony started
    with Briona Mahoney leading the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the reading
    on the history of Veterans Day by Jared Beyer.

    Dennis Everson from the VFW, Mike Nuffer from the Marice Corps League and
    Lee Hinkleman with the American Legion were on hand for the ceremony, placing
    a flag at the memorial stone for Matt Cannan. Student Ashley Eves played a
    rendition of Taps.

    The ceremony concluded with the High School Select Chorus singing the
    National Anthem.

    There will be a Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at
    the Veterans Memorial Park in Lowville, where the public is encouraged to attend.
