Lowville Turkey Trot 2019
day. Thanksgiving Day greeted approximately 155 runners with temperatures in the mid thirties and cloudy skies. By the time the runners started the 5 K snow was in the air. What else would we expect? The event is a family fun run with no official timing or awards. Many participants dress in turkey attire. After the run, donuts and chocolate milk are highlights and a number of prizes are raffled to lucky runners. Nicole Sadowski was the first female to finish the event in a time of 23:15 and she was followed closely by Nicole Nath and Jane Jennings in 23:42 and 23:56, respectively. The male runners were led by Ethan Moore in 19:32, Hunter Moore in 19:40 and Michael Peebles in 20:00. Double Play Community Center is proud to host the eighth annual Lowville Turkey Trot. Double Play expresses a special thank you to Dr. Steve Lyndaker and Dr. Shareen Palmer at Lowville Medical associates. The company has sponsored the run every year since its start. Thank you also to Americu Credit Union for financial support. The Turkey Trot provides all of its proceeds to the United Way Renee Beyer Memorial Fund. Double Play Community Center has been dedicated to raising funds for this cause with multiple events each year. The Lowville Turkey Trot will be back in 2020 to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday. |
