Herzig Wins Write-in Campaign for New Bremen Highway Superintendent

November 06, 2019   01:30 p.m.   By: Nick Altmire
New Bremen, NY- The Lewis County Board of Elections has tabulated write-in
votes for the town of New Bremen this morning, with Douglas Herzig III the
unofficial winner in the race for Highway Superintendent.

Herzig received 311 write-in votes and Mark D. Lehman had 154. A handful of
people received 5 or less write-in votes.

The only candidate on the ballot was former Highway Superintendent Jonathan
    M. Bush, who resigned to take a position with the county. It was too late to
remove his name from the ballot, so write-in campaigns were launched for the
position. Mr. Bush received 108 votes.

A total of 540 write-in votes were cast in the race.

Write-in results for Town of Watson Supervisor and Town of Greig Justice will be
    available tomorrow.
