Lewis County Dairy Princess Pageant on Saturday night, at the Lowville Elks Lodge, selecting a princess to succeed outgoing Lewis County Dairy Princess Reegan Domagala, who was crowned New York State Dairy Princess earlier this year. Kelsey Beyer, a sophomore at Lowville Academy, was crowned the 2019-20 Lewis County Dairy Princess. Aubree Domagala, a freshman at South Lewis, was selected as first alternate and Brooke Platt, a sophomore at South Lewis, received the honor of second alternate. In addition, fourteen youths will participate in the program this year as Dairy Ambassadors. Biographies for each of the girls, provided by the Lewis County Dairy Princess Program, are included below. Kelsey Beyer is the daughter of Dean Beyer and lives in Lowville. Kelsey is sponsored by her Uncle Ernie and Aunt Amy Beyer of Glory Day farms, a 270 cow dairy on the West Road in Lowville. Kelsey is currently a 10th grader at Lowville Academy, where she is an officer for the FFA Club. She also takes part in Spanish club, youth group, varsity soccer, ski team and LCU soccer. When asked why she would like to become the Dairy princess she said, “I want to be a dairy princess because I am passionate about the dairy industry and I would like to keep promoting the industry along with informing consumers about the importance of dairy.” Kelsey plans to attend college and pursue a career in business. Aubree Domagala is the daughter of Robert and Nancy Domagala of Boonville. The Domagala family owns Leyden View Farm, a 65 cow farm on the East Road. They are active members of Farm Bureau, Lowville Producers, and the Lowville Farmer’s Co-Op. Aubree is an active member of South Lewis FFA, 4H, Lewis County Holstein club, the Snow Ridge ski team, band and track. Aubree is in advanced regents courses at South Lewis High school as a freshman. When asked why she would like to become the Dairy Princess she said, “I have witnessed the diligent work that farmers put forth to care for their animals and land, by being raised on a dairy farm. I feel that I am able to communicate strongly with individuals and spread the importance of the dairy industry.” Aubree plans to attend college and major in agricultural economics and communications. Brooke Platt is the daughter of Nicholas and Sarah Platt of Lyons Falls. The Platt Family has a small beef farm. They are active in the county 4H beef club and are members of the Angus association. Brooke is sponsored by Kozy Knoll Farms, owned by Phil Kubinski. Brooke is active in soccer, volleyball and softball at South Lewis High School, where she is in the 10th grade. Brooke takes part in advanced math and is a part of the Horizon I Program at Clarkson University. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and painting; she recently had art on display at the Turin Library Art Show. When asked why she would like to become the next Lewis County Dairy Princess she said, “I would like to be the next Dairy Princess to help promote local dairy farms and milk products, as well as, teach the importance of dairy consumption.” Brooke plans to attend college for engineering. |
