Turin, NY- Turin mayor Josh Leviker has announced he will be seeking the
Republican nomination for the District 7 seat on the Lewis County Board of
Legislators, currently held by Gregory Kulzer.

Mr. Kulzer, who retired from his dairy products specialist position at the New York
Stae Department of Agriculture and Markets late last year in order to be able to
serve on the board, is also seeking re-election to the post. (Read previous article

Mr. Leviker has collected his nominating petition signatures, to be filed beginning
April 1, setting up a likely primary for the Republican line on June 25.

Mr. Leviker, 34, is a life-long resident of Lewis County, growing up in Lowville
and residing in Turin since 2012. He is currently a Project Manager with Barrett
    Paving.

Mr. Leviker said he looks to add and increase economic development within
Lewis County, geared towards farming, tourism and seasonal recreation.

"These three focus points are what continue to make Lewis County thrive during
our current economic changes," he said. "With farming as our backbone, followed
by seasonal recreation, I would look to secure opportunities to help increase,
support, and boost our financial wellbeing, while maintaining our current
    hometown culture.”

“I’m not a stranger when it comes to hard work and community service.  I
currently devote many hours weekly to non-profit organizations and help aid in
community events within the village I reside in,“ Mr. Leviker said.

Besides his recent duties as village mayor, Mr. Leviker also serves on the Town
of Turin Planning Board and is the Vice President of the Turin Ridge Riders
    snowmobile club.
