Lowville, NY- The Lewis County Department of Motor Vehicles was originally
scheduled to move into their new office, located at 7513 E. State Street in
Lowville, sometime in March, but the move has been delayed as the office awaits
a date from NYS DMV officials as to when they can schedule a move of the
    equipment.

Lewis County Buildings & Grounds crews have finished the required renovations
to the new office, but a team from the state DMV office is required to come in to
relocate the equipment. That date has not yet been provided to the local office.

"We want to assure the public that the move will be coming very soon," Lewis
County Clerk Linda Hoskins said. "As soon as we have a definite  date of the
opening we will let the public know. Stay tuned!"

In February, the Lewis County Board of Legislators approved a lease agreement
with V.S. Virkler & Sons, Inc., to lease the building for $1,900 per month
beginning February 15, as a new home for the DMV office.

In March, the Board extended the lease at their current location on State Route
12, just south of Lowville, for an additional two months.
The Lewis County Department of Motor Vehicles will be moving into their new office,
located at 7513 E. State Street in Lowville
, sometime in the near future.
