Lowville, NY- There was a special guest in Lowville Wednesday evening, to
help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the American Legion organization.

National Commander Brett P. Reistad was in town to commemorate not only the
anniversary of the national organization, but the New York State 5th District and
Lowville Post 162's 100th year as well.

The evening started with a reception at the Lowville American Legion Post 162,
featuring national, state and local dignitaries. Mr. Reistad spoke, highlighting the
four pillars that are core to the organization; helping veterans, helping children
and youth, promoting patriotism and being active in national security and defense
    issues. (See remarks here)

Lowville Post Commander Lee Hinkleman provided a tour of the Veterans
Museum at the post, before officials received a police escort to a prime-rib dinner
at the Lowville Elks Lodge. Around 300 people attended the dinner.

Mr. Hinkleman also oversees the 5th District, which includes the six county area
of Lewis, Jefferson, Oneida, Onondaga, Herkimer and Oswego counties.

Festivities will continue throughout the year across the state and country as the
Legion continues their 100th anniversary celebration.
