| Beaver River Advances to Sectional Semifinal in Volleyball February 10, 2019 07:30 p.m. |
No. 5 Beaver River defeated No. 4 Sauquoit Valley 3-0 in a Section III Class C Girls Winter Volleyball Tournament quarterfinal on Saturday. Beaver River will take on No. 1 Mount Markham in a semifinal on Tuesday, with the winner advancing to the championship on February 16. In another quarterfinal on Saturday, No. 10 South Lewis fell just short, ultimately losing 3-2 in a battle against No. 2 Onondaga. In the Section 3 Wrestling Division 2 Championships, Micah Roes, Lowville, won the 113 pound class and Dempsey Carroll, Copenhagen, won in the 170 pound class. Also this weekend, Lowville defeated General Brown by a score of 69-50 in the Frontier League B Division boys basketball championship at JCC on Saturday. In the girls basketball Frontier B Division championship, South Jefferson held off Lowville by 69-56 score. Thousand Islands beat South Lewis 58-22 in the girls Frontier League C Disvision championship. In the D Division championship game, Copenhagen held on for a 43-34 win over LaFargeville in overtime. |
