    Lowville, NY- We sat down last week with both candidates in the race for the
    Lewis County Board of Legislators District 5 seat. The district- currently
    represented by Richard Chartrand (D- Lowville)- covers the majority of the
    Village of Lowville.

    Erik Griffin will appear on the Republican and Conservative party lines, while
    Richard Chartrand seeks re-election on the Democratic line.

    Mr. Griffin, who lives on Rural Avenue, is a graduate of Lowville Academy and
    is self-employed. He is a member of the Son's of the American Legion Post
    162. Mr. Griffin hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the board.

    Mr. Chartrand and his wife also live on Rural Avenue. He was the
    owner/operator of Chartrand Electric Inc. in Lowville from 1972-1984 and was
    then the Director of Public Works at Fort Drum. Mr. Chartrand has a Masters
    Degree in Public Administration from Syracuse Universiy Maxwell School and
    Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of
    Michigan, in addition to army and other educational training. He has
    represented District 5 since 2014.
