Croghan Woman Accused of Aggravated DWI (Leandra's Law)

    Town of New Bremen- A Croghan women is facing a number of charges after
    New York State Police in Carthage responded to a property damage accident in
    the Town of New Bremen on Saturday evening.

    Alicia N. Babcock, 21, was charged with one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle
    While Impaired By Drugs, a class "U" misdemeanor, one count of Endangering
    the Welfare of a Child, a class "A" misdemeanor, and one count of Aggravated
    Driving While Intoxicated: With a Child- First Offense, a class "E" felony
    (Leandra's Law).

    Leandra's Law (Child Passenger Protection Act) is a New York State law making
    it an automatic felony on the first offense to drive drunk with a person age 15 or
    younger inside the vehicle, and setting the blood alcohol content, or BAC, at 0.08.

    Ms. Babcock was taken to the Lewis County jail with an unspecified cash bail
    set. No further details were provided.
