Local Students Can Receive Free Backpack Saturday in Lowville

Through generous donations from the community and a group

of business sponsors, children across Lewis County have the opportunity to

receive a free backpack as they prepare to head back to school. Every parent

knows that this time of year can be strenuous on any household budget, and

something as small as not having to worry about providing a new backpack

with all of the other costs associated with back-to-school can go a long way!

For the second year in a row Lake Effect Tech and linkinglewiscounty.com

launched a community backpack drive for area children. This year we are

happy to welcome FidelisCare of NY and North Country Broadband on board

as sponsors of the event as well! Through their combined efforts, 144

backpacks will be distributed this year, up from the 50 that were passed out

last year.

There are no qualifications or guidelines to receive a backpack, just show up

with your child! Distribution will take place on Saturday, September 3rd, from 9

AM - 3 PM (or until gone) at the Lake Effect Tech/linkinglewiscounty location at

7537 S. State Street in Lowville. Fidelisaurus, the Fidelis Care of NY mascot,

will be on hand to take photos with the children! You can also enter a drawing

where two Amazon Kindle Fire tablets will be given away.

Some basic supplies, donated by North Country Broadband and FidelisCare of

NY will accompany each backpack.

you think this could help. All we ask is that a child be present to receive the

backpack!
