Monday morning, after reportedly fleeing a traffic stop a few hours earlier. An initial call from a Lewis County Sheriff's Office road patrol came into the dispatch center at 2:40 AM, Monday morning, indicating a failure to comply in progress on the Greig Road, heading south toward the Brantingham Road, involving a black 2004 Nissan four-door sedan. Following a short pursuit, the deputy reported the male subject pulled off near the Glen-Greig Fish & Game Club on Greig Road at 2:45 AM, fleeing on foot into a wooded area. The subject was reported as being in sock-feet and T-shirt, with temperatures in the 10 degree range. A female passenger inside the vehicle was temporarily detained, with deputies still unsure of the identity of the male subject at that time- as the registered owner of the car was coming back to a different female. The female passenger, identified as Kimberly J. Majo, 38, of Lowville, claimed to not know the identity of the male driver, deputies reported to dispatchers. Ms. Majo was later taken back to her residence by deputies, as the search for the male continued. Unlimited Towing removed the vehicle from the scene at 3 :58 AM. State Police units, as well as Lewis County Sheriff's Office deputies continued to search for the subject, later identified as Justin E. Branagan, 29, of Lowville. Around 4:30 AM, nearly two-hours after fleeing, State Police units reported locating the individual, and were making their way toward the Greig Road, between McConnell Road and Patterson Road, reporting the subject had probable hypothermia. An attempt started to locate a snowmobile to assist with retrieving the subject at 4:53 AM. At 5:06 AM, a request was made to any 3G Fire member with access to a snowmobile to assist in retrieving the subject from the woods. Dispatchers were able to use GPS coordinates from troopers to map the location where the individual was located. A neighboring resident offered deputies the use of his snowmobile, as time was becoming a concern with the individual being exposed to the elements for over two hours. A Glenfield fire chief arrived with a snowmobile around the same time a deputy was arriving on the borrowed snowmobile. The subject was reported as retrieved at 5:30 AM and was transported to Lewis County General Hospital by Lewis County Search & Rescue ambulance. Hospital officials did not immediately respond to a request on the subjects status. The Lewis County Sheriff's Office indicated that charges are pending.
