playoff run came up short today, in a State Regional game against the Newark Valley Cardinals at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. Newark Valley, the top ranked Class C team in the State, proved to be too much for the fifth ranked Red Raiders, who had dominated the Section III tournament teams with their defense. The Cardinals got off to a quick start, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive, and didn't look back. Lowville was able to keep it close in the first half, not allowing another score until just before halftime, where Newark Valley led 14-0. The Cardinals averaged 45 points per game over the course of the season. Newark Valley started to pull away in the second half, with their stingy defense keeping Lowville at bay, while their offense came through with big plays. The final score was 34-0. Lowville ends the season with a 9-2 record, while Newark Valley moves to 11-0. The Lowville Academy Select Chorus had the privilege of performing th National Anthem before the game, with team members Kalani Zehr and Jacob Duncan both part of the chorus. Congratulations to the Lowville Red Raiders for a great season, where they brought home the first Sectional Championship since 1998! The community is proud of all you have accomplished this season. |
